Your salvation far and wide.
Beyond my simple mind.
Beyond words and depths inside,
Its edge I cannot find.
Since before first day of life,
Before I drew a breath,
In me you worked good and strife
To save me ’fore my death.
Often, Lord, my eyes are on
The troubles of the day,
Not your saving hand upon
Me all along life’s way.
Open eyes to see the new
Paths leading from hell’s flame.
Open lips to sing of you
Of my salvation’s name.
Let me not go to the grave
Before the youth I tell
Of your many acts that save
And pull me from sin’s cell.
Let the generations see
Your strong and holy tower
By the words you give to me
Until life’s final hour.
