Beyond the Grey Curtain: Psalm 49

Why, O Lord, do I fear
The words and ways of man?
Why can men bring a tear?
    Depressed I often am.

Darkened clouds on my brow,
    A paralyzing storm.
Shuffling feet, shoulders bow,
    Such weight does me deform.

When will eye see your light
    A’breaking through the clouds?
Will this storm soon take flight
    Removing gloomy shrouds?

Men, I know, hold no threat
    To my eternal soul.
You alone pay the debt
    That keeps me from Sheol.

Let me not soon forget
The love you have for me.
Let their words not beset
Me as I wait for thee.
