Blood and Tears

Love and fear
flow mingled down
to chest from chin and cheek,
A just response
to God’s great power
displayed to all men meek.

His voice clear roared
from heavenly throne
drove men unto their knees,
A moment’s flush,
fear’s trembling hand,
near love they longed to see.

Shrouded in clouds
God’s hidden face
where answers can be found,
Answers that touch
both heart and head
where fear and love are bound.

But fearful tears
flow not alone
down dark and anguished face,
A brow impaled
with thorny crown
flows true with mercy’s grace.

His love flows red
my fears roll clear
both ‘twined as hand in glove,
Two brows of men -
mortal, divine -
fear purged by ‘ternal love.
