Love’s Longing: Psalm 27

Foes surround and taunt me
    Seeking my demise
Saying not to trust thee,
Will you avert your eyes?

False the accusations
    Rooted in lie’s dirt
Seeking life’s cessation,
Will you allow the hurt?

True, my nature’s fallen,
    Yes, I’ve done much wrong,
But these lies they’re telling,
Will you endure their song?

I often hide away
    From these foes of mine.
I have become their prey,
Will you protect, Lord, thine?

In my heart’s deep crying,
    Lord, I seek your face.
For your home I’m longing,
Will you prepare a place?

Will you show your beauty?
    Will your face you show?
Will you love love’s duty,
So you in life I’ll know?
