Psalm 6: Sympathetic Tears

Oftentimes I pray and cry
And ask you, Lord, Why? Oh, why?
Often lips with mournful song
Ask of you, How long, how long?
Late at night in tears I lay
Wond’ring why you went away.
Years ago I used to hear
Your clear voice to me so near.
Long ago I used to know
Where you guided me to go.
But of late on bed of pain
Tears fall freely like the rain.
Empty heart cries out so loud.
Lonely soul stands in the crowd.
Where and what time will you come
And these foes you save me from?

But even in my pain I see
Your loving hand that guideth me.
And in the still night growing dark
With empty soul and life so stark,
I know you will my pain assuage
And stay with me throughout the age.
And from before the tears I cried
And on this bed of death I lied,
You heard the words I hadn’t said
And walked the steps I hadn’t tread.
And for my cries there is no wrath
Because you understand my path.
Because you’ve walked this earth before
You know the pain it has in store.
You promise someday I’ll be free
Then live with you eternally.

So grateful He understands. He sees me, He knows me, and He loves me through and through. No greater love.
