The War: Psalm 97

If nature trembles at your call
And ’fore your throne all knees will fall,
Then why can I not give my all?

If joyfully the coastlands sing
And glory from the mountains ring,
Then why can I not my song bring?

Lord, why does evil spark in me
A wicked longing filled with glee
Not a will to bend my knee?

In evil heart I need your light
To banish darkness from my sight
So I in goodness will delight.

And then before your holy throne
I’ll stand with those you call your own
With joyful heart and sins atoned.
