Endurance: Psalm 110

I look around and see the pain
The world’s troubles and the strain.
I wonder when you’ll come to reign
And of this earth make new again.

The kings of far, the rulers near,
Decisions made producing fear.
The poor cry out, “When will you hear?
Oppressed we are from year to year!”

“I came not just for them,” you say,
“I came to bring a better day,
A day when sin inside won’t stay
And you can walk on holy way.”

Your goals I think I understand—
To clean the heart and purge the land
Then ruling all with priestly hand,
But foes of mine I can’t withstand.

Lord, let me last through life’s dark night
And see my foes fall to your might.
Then see the dawn of kingdom’s light
Beatific vision, holy sight!
