Immutable: Psalm 112

Do I fear you, Lord?
    Do I love your Word?
Will I change my life
    To match what I’ve heard?

Will I view your Word
    Through another lens—
Culture or hist’ry,
    My feelings or friends?

And if such a lens
    I place on my eyes,
How then can I see
    He who for me died?

How then will my eye
    Find truths that will last?
For all that I’m told
    Is changing so fast.

But first unto last
    Your Word does not change,
Your truth for my wants
    I cannot exchange.

So while all is change,
    Lord, help me to know
Immutable truth
    And love’s steadfast flow.

And teach me to know
    The fear of the Lord
That to me will bring
    Eternal reward.
