Throughout my life my land has seen
Dark foes on every side,
And through my life my heart has been
Filled full with evil pride.
But only short will you allow
Those forces in the land
Who uproot what the righteous plow
With steady faithful hand.
You keep my soul protected from
Such wicked evil ways.
Down from the mountains you have come
To give eternal days.
You promise to the righteous man
A respite from the fight,
And in your holy loving plan
You banish dark with light.
So keep my soul now free from all
Dark enemies within,
And take me to your holy hall
Where I am free from sin.
