Psalm 138: Strength to Endure

Read my Psalm 138 Meditation: The Prayer God Always Answers
Read Psalm 138 from the ESV

Pain through which I present tread
Ends in fields of the dead.

All men surely walk this path —
Streets of trouble, streets of wrath.

Treading down life’s path can be
With the Lord or only me.

 Lonely steps and empty days,
 Somber face and darkened ways.

Steady through these times your hand
Leads the lowly through the land.

 Troubles come, and troubles go,
But through it all still I know

Even in the midst of pain,
Deepest loss is for my gain.

 Paths of trouble often bring
Wisdom for my lips to sing

Praises to the God on high
Sung until the day I die.

 Yet behind each joyful song
 Broken hearts still deeply long

For ways free from wicked man
 And his ever-harmful plan.

Strength I need to live this life
In the face of constant strife,

For life ends not in the grave
But on streets with gold you pave.
