Psalm 141: Prayer from a Dark Mirror

Read my Psalm 141 Meditation: How ’bout Them Apples?
Read Psalm 141 from the ESV

 How easy life can be
When the gap is plain to see
     Between men of ill intent
 And others heaven-sent.

 How clear my prayers are
     To heaven’s bright throne afar
     For protection from such men
 Who lure to sinful den.

But life is not so clear
When the evil men are dear,
When the light and dark don’t part
In friends’ and my own heart.

The days are dark and bleak
When the wicked men will seek
     To destroy good servant’s life
 And trample it with strife.

 Yet harm I don’t refuse
From the servants you would choose,
From the servants who would cleanse
 And make us holy men.

Lord, keep me from sin’s harm
And protect me with your arm.
Lord, protect my battered soul -
Your love will make me whole.
