Psalm 148: Creation’s Song

In the ground the blocks you place
That brings forth leaf and tree.
From the dirt, and by your grace
You make all that we see.

Hill and peak and bird and beast,
     The sea’s deep creatures all,
From the greatest to the least,
     Your praise their voices call.

Then from dirt the man you wrought
     In image of yours fair.
From our mouths your praise is brought
     In thanks for loving care.

Thanks we give for all you’ve done,
     Your works sing praises loud.
Plant and fowl and fish and son,
     Unto your throne have bowed.

But of the works, all that you do,
The one that is the best—
Your only Son sent from you
Who brings us all to rest.

 Praises from the heavens high
     And praise from earth below.
To your throne beyond the sky,
All praise to you will go.
