Psalm 149: Just Love

Voices high your praise we sing -
 Honor glory to the king.
Tongue and lip formed for your joy,
All for you do we employ.
In your courts and on our beds,
Praise and song for you have led
 Saints in battle over foes,
You have conquered all our woes.

But can those who sing to you
Raise high sword and wicked hew?
And voice raised up to the sky,
 Can it utter battle cries?
Can your sons of holy peace
 Become tools of evil’s cease?
 Become weapons you employ
To kill evil and bring joy?

Lord, our praise we bring to thee
At your throne with bended knee.
 Humbly waiting on your call,
You we honor with our all.
Yet with all your ways unknown
I pray mercy to be shown
For those men of wicked soul
Once was me whom you’ve made whole.
